I shan't bother describing it as I'm sure the youtubes which would shortly be available would do a much better job at portraying it. As I was listening to the rally, I looked out fundamentally for the ideological points which were made during the rally. Rhetoric and ability to turn phrases and coin new ones are fun, but one should not judge a party based on its rhetorical skill.
Neither did I pay much attention to their concrete policy proposal as firstly, I'm not an economist, thus I have no real working knowledge on the finer points of economics management, and secondly, no opposition would have access to the in depth statistical data necessary to make an informed economic judgement or formulate a proper economic policy. Thus, unlike the PAP who has accessed to thousands of PSC scholars and civil servants to crunch the real numbers, the opposition would have no such priviledge, thus, I left this point alone.
I guess what impressed me the most was the emphasis on providing housing, economic and environmental conditions suited for the raising of children. If housing and economic costs were too high, and working conditions too long to make possible the care and raising of children, then this country is pretty much doomed. As Dietrich Bonhoeffer puts it,
Well, if the ideology of PAP goes unchecked, the coming generation will not survive, but instead go utterly extinct.
Also the explicit rejection of the goal of unlimited increase of GDP and the decrying of us as mere economic GDP generating robots struck a chord with me. This is an ideology which I heartily believe a humane society must believe in in this age of material lust.
So... I guess I have to say because of an ideological match, I will be voting for NSP this election. And I pray God to have mercy on us all. And now, a prayer from the proposed 1928 Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England for the British empire,

...the ultimate question for a responsible man to ask is not how he is to extricate himself heroically from the affair, but how the coming generation shall continue to live.

ALMIGHTY God, who rulest in the kingdom of men, and hast given to our Sovereign Lord, Queen Elizabeth, a great dominion in all parts of the earth: Draw together, we pray thee, in true fellowship the men of divers races, languages, and customs, who dwell therein, that, bearing one another’s burdens, and working together in brotherly concord, they may fulfil the purpose of thy providence, and set forward thy everlasting kingdom. Pardon, we beseech thee our sins and shortcomings: keep far from us an selfishness and pride: and give us grace to employ thy good gifts of order and freedom to thy glory and the welfare of mankind; through Jesus Christ thy Son our Lord, to whom with thee and the Holy Ghost be all glory and dominion, world without end. Amen.
